WCE Walk-a-Thon-Seeking Sponsors

The time has come to start planning our Second Annual Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser which focuses on fun and fitness in support of Walnut Creek Elementary! Monies raised through this event purchase supplies, equipment, technology and activities outside our school’s operating budget! Our 2009 Walk-a-thon brought in over $23,000, after expenses, which was immediately put to use in a variety of areas, including the purchasing of classroom carpets for all third and fifth grades; iPod Listening Centers for all grades; dictionaries for all first grade classrooms; Author visit; COSI on Wheels; Enrichment Day and fieldtrips for all grades, and several building and educational supplies requested by the staff. Fundraisers like this are what raise our school from good to extraordinary for our children, the staff, and parents as well. The PTO is therefore excited to start planning our 2010 WALK-A-THON, which will be held in early-mid October.
Although the WALK-A-THON is months away we need sponsors now to cover costs associated with t-shirts, water bottles, and other related give-a-ways/incentives. We are asking WCE parents and staff who have their own business, know of someone who does, or are willing to speak with their own dentist/doctor, realtors, local businesses, sports/dance/health organizations to please consider sponsoring this event! Individual families are also welcome to be sponsors if they’d like to make a tax deductible contribution at one of the sponsorship levels noted below. All sponsors will be listed on the back of the WALK-A-THON t-shirts worn by hundreds of students and faculty at the event, and will receive additional exposure in WALK-A-THON handouts sent home to each family. There are three levels of sponsorship to choose from:
$500 Sponsor’s name and logo will be printed in a large sized font
$250 Sponsor’s name and logo will be printed in an intermediate sized font
$125 Sponsor’s name will be printed in a small-intermediate sized font
We will also accept sponsors who would rather support this event by making a donation in the form of give-a-ways for every child upon completion of the walk or a single raffle item/gift card to be used as prize incentives by the PTO to generate excitement in the kids about collecting pledges for their walk.
Sponsorship is crucial to the success of our WALK-A-THON, as we’d like to make this fun and memorable for the kids, without dipping too far into PTO funds to cover event expenses. Our goal is for 100% of the pledges raised by the kids through the WALK-A-THON to go directly into supporting our school, staff, and students throughout the school year. This is only possible through the generous connections and financial and product donations made by parents, businesspeople, and friends, like you.
